With the early lock-up this Winter and late thaw this Spring, Cabin Fever has been all too real. Not to mention, I’ve been stuck in mandatory training at work the last 6 weeks away from home due to my promotion, so I’ve been unable to sneak out and fish. I was worried about the water clarity when I decided the Milwaukee was my best option and my worries were instantly put to rest when I got to the water…30″ of visibility is a very sexy stain. The morning weather was dreary and misty…perfect Steelhead weather. I swung with the big stick and sink tip where I could at 1050 cfs and went 2 for 3 with flashy and dark leech patterns. The weather went south as each minute passed. The day started calm and misty @ 43 degrees and ended with 35 mph gusts, sleet flurries, and wind chill in the low 20’s. That being said, I’ve never been so glad to be fishing in shitty weather.
