Saw this on youtube and thought I would share. Videobum1 captured some nice shots of trout rising to caddis in southwest Wisconsin.
Trout Rising to Black Caddis – Driftless Area
Southwest Florida Snook
Snook in southwest Florida start moving from deep structure to the shallow passes and beaches along the gulf coast in late spring/early summer to spawn. Last June my cousin and I spent a week down in Naples and got to witness snook cruising in the surf ambushing baitfish in just inches of water. I’m hoping I can make the time to get down there in the next couple months to get another taste of surf fishing on the beautiful gulf shore. For now I just wanted to share this photo of Chase releasing a snook into a cloud a baitfish. The fly of the trip was a gummy minnow about an inch and half long. We would just let the backwash of the surf pull the fly right in front of the fish and WHAM!
Bad Ass Art From Bad Axe Design
In early March I attended the Great Outdoor Expo in my hometown Woodstock, IL. There I ran into Jonathon selling his artwork and t-shirts inspired by the driftless area and elswhere. We talked briefly about the driftless opener and I bought a shirt. Recently, I visited his website and again was impressed by his unique style and creative designs. Do yourself a favor and check out his site.
Fish On
Here is a great tune by a great band – Primus. Front man Les Claypool spent his youth chasing sturgeon with his father in northern California. Years later he wrote this tune about a particular outing in which his dad landed a large sturgeon. Les still tours with a number of bands including Primus; which will be making a stop in Milwaukee this summer! When he’s not touring with one of his many amazing rock collaborations he is still found off the shore of Norcal chasing false albacore and sturgeon.

Driftless Daydreams…
Here are some Driftless Area shots from years past that may help some of you keep your sanity through the week. Enjoy!
At Least Someone Is Catching Steelhead
Hit the Milwaukee again today with a few friends and got the steelhead skunk again. Bret picked up two smallmouth and a walleye and I missed a couple strikes that may have been some steel. Over in northern California Justin is keeping ’em coming!
